Google URL Shortener Goes Public

Google has rolled out a standalone site for its goo.gl URL shortener, nearly a year after first announcing the service. Twitter’s 140 character limit sparked a wave of URL shorteners—from bit.ly to Twitter’s own t.co—and Google’s entrance into the market will be interesting to watch. Google’s recent flops with Wave and Buzz have put more pressure on the internet behemoth to score a winner.

Extremely cool addition to Google Goggles which allows a user to analyse a block of text and then translate it to either English, French, German, Italian or Spanish. If they get this right, it could be massive!

Google Chrome Speed Tests

Some very creative ways of showing how fast the new Google Chrome web browser is. Apparently these speed tests were filmed at actual web page rendering times, although I’m sure internet connection has something to do with it! Anyway, it’s pretty cool and worth a watch.
